BelCanto sing at Service of Remembrance

(March 31, 2011)

My family recently lost a very dear friend, Susan Gill, through Cancer.  Because of her illness, Sue had never been able to come to one of our concerts and one of her dying wishes was that BelCanto would sing at her funeral service.  This was held at St. Giles' Church, Matlock on Thursday, 31 March 2011.  During the service, we sang "Sanctus" (from the German Mass No.2 by Franz Schubert) and "You are the Wind Beneath my Wings" (words and music by Jeff Silbar & Larry Henley, arr. by Gwyn Arch).  I have received many compliments as a result of our performance, most notably the lovely card received from Sue's family, which reads:
"Just a huge thank you to you and the rest of the Choir for making Mum's service extra special.  She would have loved the pieces that you selected.  Truly "beautiful singing" indeed.  Thank you for arranging everything and please pass on our thanks for taking time out of everyone's day to come and sing for Mum.  It meant so much to the family.  Please find enclosed a donation for BelCanto with our sincere thanks.
Love from Nicola, Andrew, Kath and Kenneth."

(Thanks, everyone - Sid)
